Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the opinions of Pre-service Turkish language teachers towards Speaking Education course conducted with microteaching. The study group of this research which lasted during all the term consists of the students who took Speaking Education course in the target term in Yuzuncu Yil University, Faculty of Education, Turkish Language Education Department. Data were collected after the application phase. For data collection, İnterview form developed by the researcher was used in order to get The Opinions of Pre-service Teachers Concerning Microteaching. Data collected according to qualitative research method were analyzed with content analysis. In this research, reactions developed by pre-service teachers towards microteaching and Speaking Education course conducted with this technique are tried to be presented. Findings of this research were discussed by comparing in the literature. At the end of the study pre-service teachers stated that they were profoundly contented with the courses that were conducted with microteaching and it made significant contributions to overcome the problems about speaking, to improve speaking skills and to dispel speaking anxieties. Besides, pre-service teachers expressed microteaching’s benefits such as taking the course in a pleasurable and enjoyable setting, increasing self-confidence, realizing their deficiencies and facing themselves etc. At the end of the study, various suggestions were presented to the administrators of education faculties, program developers, instructors and target people and institutions.
