Abstract

It is known that various approaches and techniques are used in teaching Turkish to foreigners. Every year we try to develop this field by using various methods and techniques related to foreign language teaching. By using these methods and techniques, it is possible to reach the result that there is no model, method or technique set in Turkish teaching of foreigners. Introducing a new model of language teaching with foreigners in order to close the gap in this area will bring a new breath to the field. In this context Gass's Second Language Acquisition Model will be introduced in this research. Gass's Second Language Acquisition Model is a model based on five levels of learning and intermediate conditions. Learning levels; Appercieved Input, Comprehended Input, Intake, Integration and Output.Gass (1988) established a framework for second language studies. The main purpose of Gass's research is to understand the second language mechanism and its requirements. So Gass (1988) aims to bring a break from the existing perspectives around the world. It is based on socio-linguistic, psycho-linguistic, and linguistic aspects of acquisition and Gass's Second Language Acquisition Model mixed approach, which is formed by a sketchy combination of these general approaches. The Second Language Acquisition Model, formed by the passing of the theories, is essentially a general framework. Within this framework, learning areas will be addressed.Research has examined written sources for researching the emphasis on teaching Turkish to foreigners. In this respect, the method of document examination has been used in the qualitative researches. Suggestions have been made in terms of workable light handling that can be done with this new model.
