DETERMİNATİONED METAPHORS IN THE SOME WORKS OF CHAGATAİ TURKISH

Abstract

According to traditional perspective, metaphor, is the substitution of one of two concepts that have similarity. İn the Conceptual Metaphors Theory, the metaphor is an action that takes place in thought before language. A metaphor is understood with another concept domain of a consept domain (Lakoff, Johnson 1980: 3-6). Metaphors are not arbitrary, arbitrarily used language expressions. It is words in language that situated in the thought systematically and consciously and facilitate the concept and meaning.There is a concept that is a target with a concept that is a resource in metaphors. The idea of facilitating the understanding with evokation, the desire to learn and to teach, and the creative thinking power that exists in the mind of the person constitute these language expressions.Ali Şir Nevai had revealed with works that Chagatai Turkısh has a classical form. In this study, ıt was examined the metaphors used in the Divan of Hüseyin Baykara and Ali Şir Nevâyî’s Divan and masnavi among the works that provide the classic form of Chagatai Turkısh. It is aimed to examine the systematic status of the concepts of Çağatay Turkic and some metaphors living in Chagati Turkısh Turkic and to determine in part which type of metaphor is preferred.Metaphors were evaluated under the those headings:I. General Appearance of Metaphors Consistency in Metaphors: Positive Perspective on Metaphors, Negative Perspective on Metaphors II. Metaphors in Terms of Concept TypesOntological Metaphors: Asset and Substance Metaphors: 1. Metaphores that take their source from inanimate objects and substances 2. Metaphors that take their source from the feature of the material 3. Metaphors that take their source from the color property of the material 4. Metaphor that take their source from material made an impression on people 5. Metaphors that take the source as a binding feature of the material 6. Metaphor which take their source from an animal 7.
