THE PROFICIENCY OF PRE-SERVICE TEACHERS OF TURKISH IN PREPARING LESSON PLAN (HASAN ALI YUCEL FACULTY OF EDUCATION SAMPLE)

Abstract

Lesson plan is defined as a plan that indicates one or several lesson’s purpose, base lines, related experiments, discussion questions, assignments, application studies, class equipments, evaluation ways and it is prepared by the teacher or teachers (Oğuzkan, 1981: 50). Lesson plan preparation skill is stated in teacher competencies that are published by the Ministry of National Education and Turkish Teaching Undergraduate Programs’ course content in “Teaching Principles and Methods” and “Schools Teaching Practice” prepared by Council of Higher Education (MEB, 2008a; YÖK, 2007). In this context, the purpose of this study was to evaluate and determine the consistency between the form and content of the lesson plans which were prepared by pre-service teachers. The sample of the study was senior students studying at Istanbul University, Hasan Ali Yucel Education Faculty, Department of Turkish Teaching within the 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 educational years.In the study, 277 lesson plans were analyzed by using content analysis method. The results indicated that the teaching plans did not have significant lacks in terms of form. Even though the students had some problems in designing the content, they were able to maintain a consistency between form and content parts of the lesson plans.
