Some plants have been used as nutrients, as paints, as ornamental plants, or for therapeutic purposes and they have given special names according to the various characteristics of the plants. Codex Cumanicus, the work of Kuman-Kipchak, is the first work written in the Latin alphabet in the history of Turkish language. This work has a very rich structure about the existence of vocabulary. In this vocabulary, there are many vocabularies such as human qualifiers, religious terms, commercial terms, animal names, color names, kinship names. Plant names are also met with a very rich vocabulary. In this study, an investigation was made on the uses of plant names in Codex Cumanıcus in today's Anatolian dialects. In the study, firstly the names of plants were scanned. The words obtained as a result of the scan; divided into 10 different categories, including fruits, vegetables, herbs, cereals, legumes, flowers, trees, general nomenclature, nomenclatures for any part of the plant, and others. These words were then compared with plant names in the Compilation Dictionary. Overlapping plant names; still used in the same sense, used as a different plant name and used as a word other than the name of the plant is divided into 3 groups. Periodic traces of vocabulary in the modern Anatolian dialects will illuminate us about the continuity of our language without dominating and ruling history.},author={Muharrem ÖZDEN},year={2019},journal={International Journal of Language Academy}}
