The first application of PISA, which reveals the position of countries on the fields of maths litecary, science literacy and reading skills at an international level, was been applied every three years following the first application and it continues up to the present. The aim of the exam is to find out then daily problem solving abilities of the students at the age of 15. The results of PISA suggest us an idea on finding out the problems at educaiton systems of the countries and on how to solve them. In the year of 2000, 32 countries participated in the application of PISA, in 2003 41 countries, in 2006 57 countries, in 2009 and 2012 65 countries, and in 2015 76 countries. PISA concantrates on a specific field in cycles in each exam term. According to this, reading skills was the common field in the years 2000 and 2009. Teaching programmes were renewed by the Ministry of Education in 2018 including elective courses. Reading Skills course is in the group of elective courses for 5th and 6th graders. This programme draws the attention with its similarity to PISA exam for Reading Skills. The consistency of PISA Reading Skills level and the learning outcomes of 2018 Reading Skills Course has constituted of this research. The examinaton of 2018 elective Reading Skills Programme in terms of the level of PISA reading skills is expected to contribute to the programme makers and teachers.
