Abstract

Personality develops starting from early childhood over a long period of time. In this process, it could be beneficial to use the qualified children's literature books as an effective stimulus in developing child and young’s individual autonomous. Starting from early childhood, children's books have an important function in creating individual values related to children, people and life. In childhood, in which human personality is formed, emulation is the most effective and fastest way of learning. For this reason, it is very important that in the books with autonomous self-heroes are bridged to children. It can be said that these qualitative books will contribute to the development of child and young’s individual autonomous. The aim of this study, as a descriptive research, is to determine the importance of Little Black Fish, which is one of the books of children's literature, which are accepted to provide the contributions to develop the individual autonomous in child and young. For this aim, firstly the concepts of individuality, autonomy, individual autonomous and self-reliant individual are explained; then the function of child literature in self-autonomy is elaborated. The book has been analyzed according to the classification of the concept of individuality. There are two sub-orders of self as individual autonomous” and self-reliant individual. According to the analysis, the hero named Little Black Fish was the individual autonomous one. He has acted freely against the pressures of his mother and his social environment. It is a character, who does not hesitate to question, inquire, investigate, and to attempt. It has qualities that children and young can identify and emulate with him. The book named Little Black Fish as an artistic stimulus is thought to contribute to the development of the child and young’s individual autonomous.
