In this study, translation practice is evaluated in the scope of a sample within the framework of translation strategies; theories and methods and the features in question are focused in terms of how they make sense in the transference of culture-specific items. The texts involving culture-specific items and forming the analyzing source of the article are the documents which are related with our cultural heritage that glorify the status of our country on the World List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO (“United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization”), an international level organization which states its mission as to assist the cooperation between nations through education, science and culture and thus serve for peace and confidence in order to build common respect for human rights and fundamental freedom recognized for world nations in the Constitution of United Nations regardless of difference in race, gender, language and religion and an organization which undertakes significant tasks in terms of promotion of cultural assets of a nation. The texts regarding our heritage items registered in the nomination files of UNESCO (https://ich.unesco.org) and their translations in English language made by General Directorate of Research and Training of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey (http://aregem.kulturturizm.gov.tr) are analyzed within the framework of the translation methods of Peter Newmark (1988), the translation strategies of Lawrence Venuti (1995, 1998a) and the descriptive translation theory of Gideon Toury (1995).
