The study aims to examine the reading texts in the Turkish textbook taught in the 8th grade in 2018 - 2019 academic year in terms of conformity with the values, root values, text-theme harmony and level of children. The quantitative results obtained from this qualitative study using the document analysis model are presented with tables and the findings are interpreted. In the study, free reading texts and listening texts from 40 texts in eighth grade Turkish textbook were not included in the study and 24 reading texts were examined.
With the data obtained from the research, it was found that the texts in question were appropriate for children's ages and levels; prepared in accordance with the qualifications of the 2018 Turkish Curriculum; the root values of the text such as love, respect, patriotism has been determined. In terms of text-theme harmony, it is observed that the texts reflect the theme in which they are included in harmony. As for the vocabulary, it was noted that the texts were mostly used in idioms.
