Abstract

Reading skills from comprehension skills are both a learning tool and a central point that will affect academic achievement in terms of increasing the vocabulary in both mother tongue and foreign language teaching directly affecting the development of language skills. Individuals load and interpret meaning according to the wealth of words in their own language. In this context, since each language reflects a special world view, foreign language learning is the gateway to a new world. The words that are one of the most important building blocks of the language and may appear with more than one meaning; it is an important element of vocabulary. At this point, it is known that words play an important role in foreign language teaching which serves as an intercultural bridge. It is seen that interest in learning Turkish as a foreign language increases due to the global interaction developed in recent years. TÖMER, DİLMER and the rapidly increasing number of YETEMs which provide educational and cultural interaction, have been prepared according to four basic skills according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: Basic (A1, A2), Medium (B1, B2) and High (C1) ) with Turkish textbooks. It is known that there are studies on how and in which way vocabulary teaching should be done through the mentioned sets. However, after giving basic communication skills, it is seen that there are also textbooks prepared for academic education. In this context, it is thought that the academic reading texts prepared for the reading skills of Turkish learners who have reached the advanced level (C2) language level will enrich the academic vocabulary. In this context, it is seen that there is no study on the contribution of Gazi TÖMER Academic Reading texts to C2 vocabulary level. From this point of view, it is aimed to determine the contribution of foreign learners to vocabulary by using 50 academic reading text document analysis method in the book.
