Abstract

The main role of translation is creating cultural bridge between different people .This role become a real challenge when it concerns translation of religious text written in eloquent style as the prophetic Hadith one. The Eugene Nida theory being one of the most important translation theories dealing with culture in religious context, we wondered if it’s efficient in the translation of cultural elements as Islamic terms and eloquent expressions, contained in prophet’s Hadith from Arabic to French. We concluded ,through a practical study employing descriptive method with content analysis of examples taken from “Recueil de Hadiths: La vie familiale” “Hadith collection: Family life”, collected by Abd al-badi Saqr and translated by Hani Ramadan, that dynamic equivalent fulfill the communicative function in translation of expressions ,but in translation of terms it can cause ambiguity between Islamic and Christian concepts , therefore the use of formal equivalent in this case is more appropriate .
