Abstract


NON-LINGUISTIC SIGNS IN THE TALE OF SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS
The sign, in general, represents all sorts of forms, objects, phenomena, etc. which represent something other than themselves and are therefore capable of replacing what it represents is defined as. The concept of sign “has an important place in the philosophy of language. Semiotics accepts that everything that has meaning is a sign. Non-linguistic signs were examined in Peirce's theory. According to the theory, which is formed according to the triple structure, examining the images by classifying them provides important clues in the description of the visuals, in particular their meaning. The problem sentence of the study was determined as n what are the non-linguistic signs used in the fairy tale books for children and what meanings were used to meet them? In this research, which is a qualitative study, a document review was conducted. The document used in this research is the story of the Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The aim of this study is to determine the appearance of Pierce in terms of semiotic analysis examples. In this study, semiotic analysis method was used. The most commonly used non-linguistic signs in the reviewed tale book is the visual signs with 42%. In the second place, the symptom is 39% and the third is the symbol with 18%. In this context, it can be stated that the non-linguistic signs included in the picture books are primarily visual indicators and they allow the reader to use the mental processes to the extent that they contain the signs and symptoms.
