Abstract

In this study, the changes occurred in the behaviors, lifestyle and morality of the ‘Jazz Age’ woman have been intended to explain by means of the women with whom Fitzgerald fell in love and the female characters representing them in his short stories. Many critics agree that these female characters represent the characteristics of the ‘Jazz Age’ which is defined as a period valuing material well-being, comfort, luxury and idle life over all moral and humanistic values. Fitzgerald is both the greatest celebrant and the sternest critic of the period.
