Therefore, every individual must adopt and preserve social values and assume responsibility for transferring these values to the next generations. The transfer of value first begins in the family. Children imitate their parents from an early age by taking the role model of their parents. For this reason, parents should not forget that they have responsibilities at this point. The transfer of value ,which first starts in the family, continues in schools namely the formal educational institutions. Schools must be more systematic and attentive than families at the point of value transfer. It should not be forgotten that especially teachers can be positive role models for students. For this reason, especially teachers must have the values of the society and be able to transfer these values to students. At this point, the importance of well-educated teachers will emerge. Especially in education faculties this point must be given importance and teachers of the future must be equipped with social values. For this purpose, in this study, the perception of values of the Turkish education department students was examined in terms of different variables and the obtained findings were interpreted. Turkish education department students formed the universe of the study, while a total of 225 students studying in the first, second, third and fourth classes of Turkish Education Department, Social Sciences Education Department, Faculty of Education of Akdeniz University in 2016-2017 academic year formed the sample of the study. In the study, Portrait Values Scale which was formed and developed by Schwarts, Melech, Lechmann, Burgess, Haris and Owens (2001) and adopted to Turkish by Demirutku(2004). When the average of scores,which students got from Portrait Values Scale, are examined it is seen that the highest average is in the universality scale (X:5, 3689) and the lowest average is in the power scale(X:3,5022). When answers given to Portrait Values Scale by participating students in the study were examined in terms of gender variation, significant differences were found in the following values : Power, Taking Pleasure in Life, Universality, Benevolence, Traditionalism, Security. However, there was no significant difference in terms of gender groups in the Achievement, Adoption, inspiration and Self-Orientation groups. There was no significant difference identified in the value perception of the students participating in the survey, when their value perception was examined in terms of classroom variables.},author={Ahmet Zeki GÜVEN},year={2017},journal={International Journal of Language Academy}}
