Abstract

The qualifications and the changes in the historical process of the religious words in the Bî-Namaz Story, which is a folktale and involves the Reatures of the last period of Ottoman Turkish, are revealed diachronicly and the terms are classified in this study. While it is clarified that how it was approached to some religious values during the last period of the Ottoman society strucucture, what typ of changes this approach had in history, how this affected the language and the words, the past of tuday's terminilogy is also tried to reveal. While the history of the religious terms are discussed the main works of Turkish language in historical periods are examined. The works are chosen among the Karakhanid Period, the Uyghur period, the Kharezm period the Kipczak area, the 15 th. Century, the Old Anatolian period and the Ottoman Period. The religious terms in Bî-Namaz Story, which is awork of the last Ottoman period, are compared with the ones in the works which are chosen among the historical periods of the Turkish language in terms of semantics and structure. To make the comparison more meaningful the religious terms in the works are given with the sentences in which they exist. The religious terms in the sentences are evaluated in terms of formand meaning more easly. It is observed that in the evaluation the religious terms sometimes proceed without changing and sometimes show a change in terms of form and meaning. The assessments of the religious terms in terms of form and meaning takes place in the study after comparing the terms in the sample sentences. The assessment of form and meaning is done separately for each term. In conclusion, in this study it is revealed that what kind of changes the religious terms has had in terms of form and meaning since the Turks embraced Islam.
