Abstract

Can Yücel has an important place in Turkish literature through his poems and translations. And he is seen as a modernist poet, who stands between Strange (Garip) and Second New (İkinci Yeni) trends in literary circles. In this study, the poems of Can Yücel are studied within the context of their postmodern features. The period, in which he lived and wrote, the form and the content in some of his poems and the fact that his poems have not been approached before from this point of view are the main reasons for us to study on this theme. One another reason is that in the postmodern literary context, more researches on novels but not in poetry in Turkey are being explored. And it is thought that the postmodern poetry is a little ignored in this sense. For these reasons, after mentioning the general features of postmodern poetry, how and how much of these features are found will be examined in poems of Can Yücel, which are selected from his book of poetry, Rengahenk.
