Abstract

In this study, it will be put emphasis on the poem perception of 6 and 8 grades students of secondary school. Study’s sample group is class which consists of students of Atatürk secondary school. Students’ answers were evaluated with questions that were prepared according to chosen poem. The aim of evaluation is to present the poem perception of 12-14 ages group in the teaching of literature. It was looked whether there is difference in handled groups by being compared each other in terms of age and gender in the program of spss. Same lyrical poem was given to classes; scale that depends on the perception of this poem in terms of figüre and content was oriented, it was looked whether there is difference in both class and between the classes according to taken answers. While working up to, answers that they gave fort he open-ended questions were evaluated in the method of classification. It was seen that poem perception doesn’t show meaningful difference in terms of age and gender except few articles in the results of study. Poem is the indicator of abstract opinion as the most intensive form of imagination and emotion earth in literatüre. So poems are textes that should be given importance in both language teaching and literatüre education.
