Target destinations for the refugees were not well-prepared enough to provide them with sufficient humanitarian aid. One of the most important problems that the refugees encountered was undoubtedly the language barrier. Also, the mother languages of Syrian refugees were different, thus it was even difficult for them to communicate among themselves. At this point, the significance of translation / interpreting tools came into the picture. This paper investigates the role of translation / interpreting tools in Syrian refugee crisis from various angles. By using comparative analysis method, the current study examines different translation / interpreting tools designed by both the refugees and volunteer organizations. These technological aids are evaluated by the criteria which the author has determined according to the needs of the refugees, not just for the sake of pure linguistic aims. After discussing and analyzing the pros and cons of the aforementioned tools, the research ends with the implications for better language solutions to be offered to the refugees.},author={Halil İbrahim BALKUL},year={2018},journal={International Journal of Language Academy}}
