Abstract

After the integration of the post-editors into machine translation programs, open-source online and offline software, which are independent from the translation software and works as self-contained, and have post-editor functions, have been developed. In the literature analysis, it is seen that the post-editors, especially which are integrated into the translation software, have been researched. Under this research, independently from by which tools the source texts are translated, the question of which functions have the independent post-editors on editing processes during the creating target texts, is asked. It is aimed to learn which contributions may be provided by such software on the translations from Turkish native language into German and English target languages since it is thought that the possibility to make mistakes on such translations. During this research, an application and a survey are carried out on the students of Translation Studies. It is seen that, despite certain risks, such software increase the quality of the translated texts noteworthy, and contributes to the translator qualifications. However, it is determined that there are online post-editors independent from translation software that are overlapped with the functions of post-editors.
