Abstract

Turkestan is the name of gigantic-sized area which has been the homeland to Turkish nation from the earliest times to the day. At the present time, one of the states established in this area which is called as Central Asia because of some political causes is Uzbekistan. Today, Uzbekistan is neighboured with Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Iran.Culture and literature in Uzbekistan which has been obliged to live as member of Soviet Union for many years, exposed the various pressures during certain periods. Erkin Vâhidov, one of the important names of modern Uzbek literature, is a productive poet with a lot of works. As in many societies, bazaar places in Uzbekistan are the leading spaces which maintain cultural life. In Vahidov’s poem called as Turkestan Bazaar, it is imagined a great bazaar which is open to whole world and selected America for bazaar place. Hosts of imagined bazaar are Turkmens, Tajiks, Kyrgyz and Kazakhs with Uzbeks. The aim of this study is to evaluate Turkestan area in his world of thought by looking at political developments in period that the poet lived and concepts he used in his poem.
