Abstract

Bu makale yabancı dil eğitiminde sıklıkla kullanılan bir kitap olan Lessons From Good Learners üzerine bir inceleme yazısıdır. Bu kitap Carol Griffiths tarafından derlenip yayınlanmıştır. Rubin’in unutulmayan makalesi (1975) anısına 23 makaleden düzenlenen bu volümde, Griffiths her bölümde öğrenci değişkenlerini kapsamlı bir şekilde gözden geçirir ve okuyucuyu en iyi öğrencilerin özellikleriyle tanıştırır. Bunun yanında, her bir değişkeni bu şekilde gözden geçirmesi okuyucunun bu kitabi bir referans veya kullanım kılavuzu gibi kullanmasına da yardımcı olur. Bu kitap, referans ve uygulamalar sunarken, teorik konulara da değinir, ve ayrıca gelecekteki deneysel araştırmalar için alandaki eksiklikleri de saptar.

Abstract

This paper is a book review on a widely used foreign language education book titled Lessons From Good Language Learners. The book was compiled and edited by Carol Griffith. Commemorating Rubin’s (1975) seminal article by compiling 23 articles in this volume, Griffiths provides a comprehensive overview of learner variables in each chapter and familiarizes the readers with good examples of each learner variables. In addition, she offers a comprehensive review on each variable, which helps the reader to use this book as a reference or manual book. The book provides references and implications, addresses theoretical issues, and identifies the current gaps for future empirical research.
