Abstract

When we evaluate our poetry as a whole, it seen that there is no formation of independent poetry. Even in the current movement which is a purportedly response, there is a continuation and influence of the previous movement. Divan poetry and folk poetry are two important sources of enriching the culture. Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu, has a distinctive styles by using these two sources because of his admiration and efforts to approach the folk literature. This aspect of his work has been as a bridge leading to the folk literature. Eyüboğlu thinks that folk songs are the main sources of poetry. Therefore, there are traces of life in villages and towns, folk beliefs, traditions and customs in his poetry. In Delifişek (Firebrand) which he stated his views on the differents fields of art, poetry likened to a firebrand in reaching its destination before everything. He defined folk songs as “the honey of poetry”. Eyüboğlu is both poet and painter, writer and sculptor. He is also a teacher and mosaic artist. Bedri Rahmi was able to reflect his skill and colorful personality to all branches of the arts. He has a permanent place among our rare artist who has managed to combine literature with the other branches of arts by taking advantage of folk culture. In this study, we will address his ideas about folk literature and art and reflections of these ideas to his work according to Delifişek. In the study, descriptive analysis method is used. For this porpose, Eyüboğlu’s views on language, literature and art has been reviewed with the examples from his works.
