The aim of this study is to reveal how dimensions of depth and breadth change in vocabulary and to draw attention to the vocabulary and semantic of Turkish language. Based on this aim, the vocabulary lists of Yedi İklim A1 and A2 levels of Teaching Turkish for Foreign Learners Language course books have been accepted and examined as the documents of the search. The nominal words have been detected in these lists. During the evaluation of the words, the base form of the words have been accepted. 1245 nominal words in A1 and 1815 nominal ones in A2 level have been determined. The research has been conducted with qualitative research design. Acquired words have been accepted as the document and the documents’ analysis have been conducted. The analysis of the datum has been practiced with content analysis. With the help of content analysis, the words have been categorized into “Central Meaning-Figurative Meaning-Technical Meaning-Proverbs/Idioms-Compound Words” to be able to demonstrate the development of dimensions of depth. To show the development of dimension of breadth, the words have been categorized accordingly their usage in the contexts and name of the units in the course books. In both course books, there are 594 words showing developments. In all those vocabulary items, it has been specified the most changing 50 words in depth and breadth in the research. According to the datum, it is seen that the dimensions of depth and breadth have increased positively, though, the dimension of depth is insufficient in comparison with breadth. Therefore, it is understood that there should be much more emphasis on the dimension of depth in Turkish foreign language course books.
