Abstract
In any confrontational dispute embracing the political one , the speaker has to embrace a specific style including speech acts as well as many different stylistic devices at all levels of expression (syntax, morphology, phonology, and semantics). The hidden ideologies the political discourse carry out and its momentous power have fortified a vast number of researchers to probe in this extent . One approach of studying such ideologies is via investigating the persuasive power existed in this discourse . Taking Trump’s speeches , as an example , and based on Huggard etal.(2006) model ,the researcher explores the persuasive techniques used to accomplish the task of persuasion in this discourse . The paper reveals that Trump speeches witness the presence of altered techniques devoted to coax the audience in a certain idea .However , repetition technique is more prominent than others as it is a good device for achieving not only persuasion but also illumination, prominence , warning , making a point memorable ,and creating cohesion in the discourse . Using such fundamental tool , Trump succeeds to have his own influence or power upon people ,manipulate them ,and consequently reform an opinion.
