Abstract
Edebiyat ve eğitim arasında sıkı bir bağ vardır. Edebiyatın genç nesilleri terbiye etme, eğitme gibi bir mahiyeti bulunur. Gençler, edebî metinlerle düşünmesini, okudukları romanlardan, öykülerden dersler çıkarmasını öğrenirler. Bu çalışmanın amacı Harper Lee’nin Bülbülü Öldürmek romanındaki eğitim değerlerini tespit etmektir. Bu çalışma tarama modelinde betimsel bir çalışmadır. Çalışmada belgesel tarama yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Bazı edebî ürünlerin eğitimle ilgili tespitleri okurlar ve eğitimciler açısından yol gösterici mahiyettedir. Harper Lee’nin Bülbülü Öldürmek romanında da eğitim değerleri karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Romandaki baba karakteri Atticus, insanları olduğu gibi kabul eden, onları yargılamayan, anlamaya çalışan, çocuklarına da bunu öğreten bir insandır. O, nasıl iyi bir baba olunur, nasıl iyi biri insan olunur sorularının cevabını gösterir romanda. Atticus eğitime önem verir; gençliğinde kazancını, kardeşinin eğitimine harcar, kendisi de bir avukattır. Çocuklarıyla iletişim kurarken onlara yetişkin bireylermiş gibi davranır, onlara karşı her zaman kibar ve tarafsızdır. Demokratik bir ortamda büyüyen çocuklar için, yaz tatillerinin en hoşa giden etkinliği arkadaşlarıyla birlikte tiyatro eserlerini oynamalarıdır. Atticus, evde çocuklarıyla oynar, onlara kitap okur. Bu ev sürekli gazete, vesair şeylerin okunduğu bir evdir. Öyle ki evin küçük kızı Scout daha okula gitmeden okumayı, yazmayı öğrenmiştir. Masum düz bir çocuk bakışıyla anlatılan romanda Atticus ve çocuklarını diğerlerinden ayıran en önemli özellik empati yapabilmeleridir. Atticus, çocuklarına sadece öğüt vermekle kalmaz yaşayışıyla onlara model olur. Bu günümüzde anne babaların çocuklarına vermek istedikleri eğitimde eksik kalan bir tutumdur. Bu romanı okuyacak olan genç bireyler buradaki eğitim değerleri vasıtasıyla kendilerine müspet manada yön verebilirler. Romanı okuyacak olan eğitimciler ve anne babalar ise yine bu romandaki eğitim değerlerinden faydalanabilirler.

Abstract
There is a close connection between literature and education. The younger generations of literature have a nature such as education and training. Young people learn how to think with literary texts and to write lessons from the novels they read. The aim of this work is to determine the educational values of Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird novel. This study is a descriptive study in the screening model. Documentary screening method was used in the study. Some literary products read educational determinations and guide educators. In Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird novel, the values of education are antagonistic. Atticus, the father of the novel, is a person who accepts people as they are, does not judge them, makes sense, teaches them to their children. It is the novel that shows the answer to the question of how to be a good father, how to be a good man. Atticus is important in education; In his youth he spends his money on his brother's education and he is a lawyer himself. When communicating with their children, they treat them like adult individuals, always polite and neutral to them. For children growing up in a democratic environment, the most enjoyable activity of summer holidays is to play theater works with their friends. Atticus plays with the children at home, reads them books. This house is a house where you always read things like newspapers. So much so that the little girl, Scout, learned to read and write without going to school. The most important feature that distinguishes Atticus and their children from the others is that they can empathize in the romance described by innocent straight-eyed children. Atticus does not just give advice to their children, but models them with life. This is an attitude that is missing in the education that parents want to give their children today. Young people who read this novel can direct themselves positively through educational values there. Educators and parents who will read the novel can still benefit from the educational value of this novel.
