Abstract
Bu araştırmayla öğretmen adaylarının konuşmaya yönelik tutumlarını belirlemek ve söz konusu tutumlarını bazı değişkenler bağlamında incelemek amaçlanmıştır. Bu doğrultuda nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden biri olan tarama deseni kullanılmıştır. Araştırma grubunu 2022-2023 akademik yılı güz yarıyılında bir devlet üniversitesinde öğrenim gören 487 kadın, 186 erkek olmak üzere toplam 673 öğretmen adayı oluşturmuştur. Araştırmanın verileri, “Kişisel Bilgi Formu” ve “Konuşmaya Yönelik Tutum Ölçeği” kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Veriler normal dağılım göstermediği için istatistiksel analizlerde parametrik olmayan testler kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda öğretmen adaylarının konuşmaya yönelik tutumlarının yüksek düzeyde olumlu olduğu belirlenmiştir. Öğretmen adaylarının konuşmaya yönelik tutumlarında cinsiyet, yaş, ana bilim dalı, kitap okuma alışkanlığı ve karakter özelliği değişkenlerine göre istatistiksel olarak anlamlı fark saptanmıştır. Öte yandan sınıf düzeyi, sosyoekonomik durum, anne ve baba eğitim düzeyi, sahip olunan kitap sayısı, internette geçirilen süre, TV izleme süresi ve lise türü değişkenlerine göre istatistiksel olarak anlamlı fark belirlenmemiştir. Elde edilen bulgular ilgili alanyazın çerçevesinde tartışılmış ve önerilerde bulunulmuştur. İlgili çalışmalar incelendiğinde öğretmen adaylarının konuşmaya yönelik tutumlarının “cinsiyet, sınıf, baba mesleği ve lise türü” gibi çeşitli değişkenlere göre incelendiği ancak “yaş, ana bilim dalı, sosyoekonomik durum, anne ve baba eğitim düzeyi, kitap okuma alışkanlığı, sahip olunan kitap sayısı, internette geçirilen süre, TV izleme süresi ve karakter özelliği” gibi değişkenlere göre incelenmediği belirlenmiştir. Bu yönüyle çalışmanın alanyazına katkı sağlayacağı düşünülmektedir.

Abstract
This research aims to detect the attitudes of teacher candidates towards speech and to examine these attitudes according to various variables. In this direction, the screening pattern, one of the quantitative research methods, was used. The research group consists of a total of 673 teacher candidates, 487 of whom are girls and 186 of whom are boys, studying at a state university in the fall semester of the 2022-2023 academic year. The research data were collected using the “Personal Information Form” and the “Attitude Scale towards Speech”. Since the data do not show a normal distribution, statistical analyses used non-parametric tests. As a result of the research, it was detected that the attitudes of teacher candidates towards speech were positive at a high level. A statistically significant difference was found in teacher candidates’ attitudes towards speech according to gender, age, department of science, the number of books they read monthly, and character trait variables. On the other hand, no statistically significant difference was determined according to the variables of class level, socioeconomic status, mother and father education level, number of books owned, time spent on the internet, time spent watching TV, and type of high school. The findings were discussed within the framework of the relevant literature, and suggestions were provided. When the related studies are examined, it was seen that the attitudes of teacher candidates towards speaking have been examined considering variables such as “gender, class, father’s occupation and high school type”, but “age, major, socioeconomic status, mother and father education level, book reading habit, number of books owned, time spent on the internet, TV watching time and character traits” have been neglected. In this respect, the study is suggested to contribute to the literature.
