Abstract

Nowadays Turkish language is educated worldwide, whether it be academic and in universities or officially held in enstitutes; and this shows a recent improving trend regardingly. İn İran which is a neighbour to Turkey the demand for learning Turkish is increasing on a daily basis. Due to this reason, different methods and techniques are used in order to reach a perfect level of education. Iranian poeple encounter lots of difficulties while learning Turkish as a foreign language. Especially it is difficult for Iranian people whose mother language is Persian and know nothing about Turkish to go beyond difficulties and comperhend the Turkish language. These are not only grammar and vocabulary difficulties, at the same time it contains the difficulties of learning the cultural factors and using the stereotypes. The main problems faced by Irainian people and especially by Persians who study Tukish as a foreign language are comperhending and proper using of the proverbs and idioms. The aim of this study is to discuss the place of proverbs and idioms in learning Turkish as a foreign language, indicate the difficulties of learning them by Persians and to provide recommendations to eliminate the aforementined difficulties.
