In this paper, modality semantic fields of finite verbs which are conjugated with -(A/I)r morpheme and corresponds to the term of “aorist” in Turkish are determined. While determining these semantic fields, genres of verbs regarding their manner of action and aspect, their usage with modal adverbs, and types of texts and narratives, in which these verbs are used, are taken into consideration. In order to determine of semantic fields of finite verbs used in aorist, semantic fields are studied first and then contextual fields are handled. While determining contextual semantic fields, examples as sentence and phrase selected from different literary genres are evaluated. Usages of verbs in aorist are also detected in different texts gathered from scientific papers, religious texts and different literary genres like essay, story/ novel, memoir, travel writing, letter, drama, poem, biography, autobiography. At the end of these analysises and assessments carried out in these texts regarding semantic and contextual fields, it is apparently revealed that finite verbs used in aorist have meaning focusing on subject rather than tense.
